Doodle #9 - Paper Dolls for a Birthday Party
Today I designed 5 paper dolls for a 5 (soon to be 6!) year-old girl's birthday party. The girl in question is the youngest daughter of some of my family's oldest friends. Her mother (one of my mother's closest friends) asked me to help with the craft project. I was thrilled to comply and set about making paper dolls. The trick is to create a series of diverse girls whose bodies are realistic and attractive but not Barbie-esque. Another trick is to make each one uniquely appealing so that they are not the same but so that there is no one which stands out as the most desirable. Challenge accepted! I sketched a design for the body and copied it several times just adding different hair, facial features and undergarments. I glued the card stock drawings to two other layers of cardstock to reinforce the paper so that they can withstand the wear and tear inflicted by the hands of eager young artists. I am not finished cutting them out yet. I have not yet created the outfit templates. But I hope to post some pictures of what the girls come up with tomorrow! Good night, Readers!

Doodle #8 - Featuring Guest Artist Paul Till
Is it cheating to post my Dad's doodle instead if my own? Perhaps. But who makes the rules here on this blog? Yup. Me. My dad drew this picture to entertain the children of a family from my church who hosted us for dinner. The family speaks Spanish and my father does not so drawing cartoons was a great way for them to conneft. As we were leaving their home I asked the little boy if I could keep the paper towel art work.

Doodle #5 - An Illustrated Story in 4 Parts
These stroyboards depict the unfortunate events of my morning yesterday. Enjoy my sorrows and don't worry. My headphones were from Walgreens and cost very little.

Doodle #2
Sorry, this was meant to be published yesterday. I had technical difficulties.
Can you spot the face of a man in the iced coffee? He is a wisp of unincorporated cream on the side of the cup who happened to be shaped like a face. My friend named him Archibald the Coffee Fairy. I think this name is apt because it reminds me of the Italian artist Arcimboldo who was known for painting faces out of unconventional items. I think Arcimboldo would condone finding a face in the coffee cream.
