Thanksgiving

Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving. We invited our friends Jonny and Lisa Lobel
and Charlotte Skoda over to our house. After an awsome dinner of turkey parts (not
a whole because my mom wanted to use the slow cooker), stuffing, mashed potatoes,
cranberry sauce and carrots (one of which ended up in my ear thanks to Patrick)
we sat around and talked about what we were thankful for. My list included crayons,
movies, friends and and God's planning. We divided into pairs and thanked God
for eachother's lists. Then we watched the movie Home Alone, which was one of
Lisa's family's traditions. We finished off the evening with a game of Wise
and Otherwise which my dad beat us all in.
Today we had a kind of follow up Thanksgiving church service as a family in which
we sang Thanksgiving songs. My favorite of these was:
We gather together
to ask the Lord's blessing;
he chastens and hastens
his will to make known.
The wicked oppressing
now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to his name,
he forgets not his own.

The Lord has certaintly not been forgeting us lately. We are thankful for our newly
renovated house, our health and each member of our family. It's been a great
Thanksgiving!

  2. Good to hear from you! This Thanksgiving picture of yours is just so "awwwwww".
I'm curious about this game "wise and otherwise", I don't think that I recall that one from the repetoir of till games :)
And just as an FYI, I was trying to do a painting this week on a real canvis (vs my normal illustration board) to try and loosen up and just have fun with my art (ha ha, I know, ridiculous) and I was using one of the pictures of you in the dining room curtains for inspiration for the face part. And it was sort of odd because it turned out sort of cool, but then it was reminding me of something, and I still can't quite figure it out. Oh the mystery! so let it be know that your lovely visage may resemble some famous person or doll. Have you ever gotten any celeb lookalike comments?

  3. Nice picture. Looks like it was a really fun time. I hope you didn't too overly stuff yourself with all that delicious food and make sure you get Patrick back someway, even though that would have been funny to see. That game sounds like a really interesting however its played. Can't wait for your next entry. Have a fun rest of the Holiday season and say hi to everyone for me.
